uWidgets is a macOS app that puts widgets — clock, date, battery, system monitor, network, and timer — on your desktop. It is made by me, Maxim Egorov, an independent developer — I am the person responsible for this app and this policy. The short version: uWidgets collects nothing, everything happens on your Mac, and the only network connection it ever makes is Apple's, to sell you Pro.

No data collection

The uWidgets app does not collect personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising, and contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. There is no uWidgets server for anything to be sent to.

Everything happens on your Mac

The widgets read what they display from macOS as they draw it: the time and date from the system clock, charge level and power source from the battery, processor and memory load and free disk space from the operating system, and throughput counters from your network interfaces. These readings are shown and then discarded — uWidgets keeps no history of them, writes none of them to disk, and transmits none of them anywhere.

Your layout — which widgets you added, where they sit, and their size, theme, and settings — is stored in a single file on your Mac, at ~/Library/Application Support/uWidgets/layout.json. Removing the app and that folder removes everything uWidgets has ever stored.

One permission, and only when you use the timer

uWidgets is sandboxed and asks for a single permission: notifications, so a countdown can tell you when it has finished. macOS is only asked the first time you start a timer, so the dialog never appears on its own, and declining it leaves every other widget working exactly as before. Nothing else in the app needs a permission from macOS, and none is requested.

In-app purchase

uWidgets Pro is an in-app purchase, offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time “lifetime” purchase — all three unlock exactly the same features. It is processed and billed entirely by Apple through the App Store; Apple is the only network participant in this app. I never receive or store your payment details, your Apple Account, or any identifier for you as a purchaser — the app asks Apple whether this Mac's Apple Account is entitled to Pro, and that answer is all it gets. Restoring an earlier purchase asks Apple the same question again.

This website

This is separate from the app. This website uses no analytics and no tracking cookies. Like most websites, the hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability; these are not used to identify or track you and are not shared with me for any other purpose. Server log retention is controlled by the hosting provider.

Children

uWidgets is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If what the app stores or transmits ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
