System requirements

• To run uChecker: macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
• Apple Intelligence: uChecker's on-device AI uses Apple's Foundation Models, which require an Apple silicon (M-series) Mac on macOS 26 or later, and support a limited set of languages. It is one of several engines — uChecker works without it.
• Offline spelling: the on-device system spell-checker. Works on any supported Mac (including Intel and older macOS), no Apple Intelligence required, and covers Russian and many more languages.
• Custom endpoint (Pro): works on any supported Mac; needs an internet connection and your own API key.

Frequently asked questions

What languages is the app available in, and how do I switch?

uChecker's interface is available in English, Russian, and Spanish. By default it follows your Mac's system language. To use a different language just for uChecker, open System Settings → General → Language & Region, and under Applications click "+", choose uChecker, and pick a language — then relaunch the app. (There's also a shortcut to this screen in uChecker's own Settings.)

This is the language of the interface. The languages uChecker can check depend on the engine: Apple Intelligence supports a limited on-device set, while Offline spelling covers Russian and many more.

What leaves my Mac?

By default, nothing. Apple Intelligence and Offline spelling both run entirely on your device, so the text you check is never sent over the network. The only time text leaves your Mac is if you deliberately connect a custom endpoint (see below).

What happens if I use a custom endpoint?

If you connect a custom (OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible) endpoint, the text you check is sent over HTTPS to the service you chose, using the API key you provide. That key is stored only in your Mac's Keychain. I am not part of that connection and never receive your text. How the third-party service handles your data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

How do I turn off the custom endpoint?

Open uChecker's Settings and switch the active provider back to Apple Intelligence or Offline spelling. Once another provider is selected, no text is sent to the custom endpoint.

How do I delete my data or API key?

In Settings, remove the saved connection — this also removes its API key from the Keychain. Moving uChecker to the Trash removes the app itself; to also clear its local settings completely, delete uChecker's preferences/container and remove any saved API key from the Keychain. uChecker does not store your text, account data, or local settings on any uChecker server.
