Privacy Policy

uNotch is a macOS app that shows your calendar in the MacBook notch. It is made by me, Maxim Egorov, an independent developer — I am the person responsible for this app and this policy. This page explains what data the app handles. The short version: uNotch asks for exactly one thing — Calendar access — and that data never leaves your Mac.
One permission, nothing else
uNotch is sandboxed and requests a single permission: access to your Calendar (via Apple's EventKit framework). It uses that access to show today's and tomorrow's events in the notch and the menu bar, to show reminders before events start, and to offer a Join button for meetings. That is all it does with it.
No data collection
The uNotch app does not collect personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising, and contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. Your calendar data is read locally, rendered locally, and never transmitted anywhere by uNotch.
Joining meetings
When an event contains a recognizable meeting link (Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams), uNotch shows a Join button. Pressing it opens that link in the browser you chose — the same as clicking the link yourself. uNotch does not add anything to the request; how the meeting service handles your data is governed by its privacy policy, not this one.
Data you store locally
Your preferences (reminder lead times, per-account browser choices, which calendars are enabled, launch at login) are stored locally on your Mac in standard app storage. They are never transmitted to me.
This website
This is separate from the app. This website uses no analytics and no tracking cookies. Like most websites, the hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability; these are not used to identify or track you and are not shared with me for any other purpose.
Trademarks
Apple, Mac, and MacBook are trademarks of Apple Inc. Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams are trademarks of their respective owners. uNotch is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
Children
uNotch is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date will change accordingly; material changes are reflected here before taking effect in the app.
