uNotch Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Last updated 11 September 2026

uNotch is made by me, Maxim Egorov, an independent developer. These terms apply to your use of the uNotch app and this website. By using uNotch, you agree to them.

License

uNotch is distributed through the Mac App Store. Because no separate end user license agreement is provided with the app, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies to your use of it.

Pricing and in-app purchases

These pages in the notch are free and stay free: Calendar, System, Pomodoro, Timer, Stopwatch, and Color Picker. Without Premium, up to four pages can be on the notch at once, and every free page stays free to use, and adding another means choosing which one to drop. uNotch Premium removes that limit and unlocks the paid pages: Clipboard, Folder, Shelf, Months, and Weather. It also unlocks two paid parts of the otherwise free System page: its Keep Awake toggle, and the status line showing network throughput, free disk space, and battery cycles and health. It also unlocks uNotch's own menu-bar readouts (CPU, memory, free disk space, today's high and low temperature, and the Pomodoro, Timer, and Stopwatch displays) and the custom menu-bar icon. The menu-bar next-event indicator is free, like the Calendar page it belongs to.

Premium is available through in-app purchase as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. Both plans unlock the same paid features while the subscription is active. Current prices and any available free trial are shown in the app and on the App Store product page before you buy. Lifetime is no longer available to buy. Earlier lifetime purchases continue to unlock Premium without a subscription and can be restored from Settings.

All purchases are processed and billed by Apple under the App Store's terms; I never receive or store your payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by me; see Apple's refund request page. You can restore an earlier purchase at any time from uNotch's Settings.

Free trials

A subscription may be offered with a free trial. When it is, the length of the trial and the price it turns into are shown in the app before you start it. A trial converts into a paid subscription automatically when it ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand; eligibility for a trial is determined by Apple, not by me.

Subscription renewal and cancellation

A uNotch subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before that period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price shown to you when you subscribed. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription under System Settings → your Apple Account → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions, or from the App Store; deleting the app does not cancel it. Cancelling a subscription keeps Premium available until the current paid period ends. Earlier lifetime purchases remain valid without a subscription and do not renew.

Calendar data and meetings

uNotch reads your calendar locally to display events and reminders. It is a convenience layer over your calendar, not a system of record: always verify important times and meeting details in your calendar app. Joining a meeting opens the event's link in your chosen browser; your use of the meeting service is subject to that service's terms.

The Shelf and Clipboard pages are not storage

The Shelf holds copies of what you park on it and the Clipboard page holds a short in-memory history. Neither is a backup, an archive, or a place to keep the only copy of anything: the Clipboard's history is cleared whenever uNotch quits, and while the Shelf now keeps its copies until you clear them, it is one folder inside one app on one Mac, with no versioning and no way to recover what you delete from it. Keep the original of anything you care about where you normally keep it. Converting a video to a GIF produces a new file where you save it and leaves the original untouched.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

uNotch is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I am not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including missed events, reminders, or meetings. Nothing here limits rights under Apple's Standard EULA or mandatory consumer protection law.

Trademarks

Apple, Mac, MacBook, and FaceTime are trademarks of Apple Inc. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Whereby, Jitsi Meet, GoTo, RingCentral, Zoho Meeting, Slack, Yandex Telemost, Kontur Talk, and DION are trademarks of their respective owners. uNotch is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
